Steve π³οΈβπ is the Global Head of Engineering at GSK Consumer Healthcare where he heads up the Software Engineering function focussed on building products that connect consumers to healthcare professionals. The cloud native platform at GSK is transforming the organisations ability to leverage data and is enabling partners to better meet the healthcare needs of patients and customers across the globe. Taking a back to basics agile approach Steve is helping GSK to embrace new ways of working and realising the benefits of embedding cross functional teams with a CI/CD mindset focussed on delivering value to customers early. As a strategic leader Steve has responsibility for the architecture and design of the systems developed working closely with senior leaders advising and implementing effective delivery management processes. Previously Steve was Head of Engineering at Boots UK with responsibility for engineers working across customer channels including boots.com and the boots mobile app. In this role Steve focussed on developing a cloud native composable commerce solution with ReactJS on the Front end and NodeJS/Java on the backend utilising PaaS services primarily from the Adobe stack to create an omni-channel personalised customer experience. At Boots Steve was a keen advocate of an agile first approach to delivery and successfully helped the business transition away from a waterfall delivery methodology realising the benefits of incremental product based delivery, utilising Domain Driven Design and C4 model as a vehicle to reduce dependencies between teams. Steve is an active member of the software development community and regularly speaks at conferences focussing on Healthcare Tech, UX, Coding Standards, Agile Principles and Leadership. Steve is a skilled Software developer having previously worked as Head of Development at Polymorph (Microsoft Gold Partner), .NET Solutions Architect and within other roles focussed on Mobile Application Development. Steve graduated from the University of Chester with a 1st Class Honours degree in Network and Communication Systems, has an MSc in management and is also a Prince 2 practitioner. He is currently studying an MBA at Nottingham Trent University.
